iPhone and iPad setup guide for Runbox email
This article describes how to set up the Runbox email service with the Mail client on an iPhone or an iPad.
The details and screenshots refer to iPhone 3G, so the process may differ slightly on your own phone. For other smart phones, please refer to the information found in the basic
IMAP and
POP setup guides.

1. Open Settings
Locate and tap
Settings on your iPhone screen, and tap
Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
2. Add account
Tap
Add Account....
3. Select service type
Tap
Other (Think Different!):
4. Add mail account
Tap
Add Mail Account.
The
New Account screen will be displayed:
5. Enter basic Account information
Enter your name, email address, password, and optionally a description for your Runbox account, and tap
Save when you're done.
Your iPhone will now look up and verify the entered data and return a screen for you to enter further details:
You will see that
IMAP is selected as the default account type. This will allow for full synchronization of all folders between your account on the server and your iPhone, and is the recommended setting.
If you wish to use the simpler POP method to only download messages in your Inbox, please refer to the
POP help section.
6. Enter Incoming Mail Server data
Scroll down to
Incoming Mail Server and enter the following (refer to the
IMAP help section for more information) :
- Host name: secure.runbox.com
- User Name: Your Runbox username
- Password: Your Runbox password
7. Enter Outgoing Mail Server data
Scroll further down to
Outgoing Mail Server and enter the following (refer to the
SMTP help section for more information) :
- Host name: secure.runbox.com
- User Name: Your Runbox username
- Password: Your Runbox password
Tap
Save when you're done. Your iPhone will verify the data you entered and return you to the main screen for Mail, Contacts, Calendars:
8. Enter additional account data
We will now set up your phone to synchronize system folders such as Drafts, Sent, and Trash.
Tap the name of the account you just added, and scroll down to the bottom and tap
Advanced:
9. Enter IMAP path prefix
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap
IMAP Path Prefix. Enter
INBOX in this field:
10. Select system folders
Scroll back up to the top of the screen and tap
Drafts Mailbox under
Mailbox Behaviors to select which folder to use for drafts:
Your iPhone will show all the folders currently on the server in your account. Scroll down and select
Drafts from the list:
The screen will reflect your choice of folder:
Press
Advanced at the top left to return to the previous screen. Repeat this step for the
Sent and
Deleted mailboxes, selecting the
Sent and
Trash folders on the server.
When you're done and have returned once again to the
Advanced screen, your
Mailbox Behaviors section should look like this:
This completes the setup of Runbox email on your iPhone!
Check your email
Press the
Home button on your iPhone to return to the springboard, and tap
Mail to open the email application.
Your new account should be displayed under
Accounts:
Tap the account name to view your email folders, and simply tap on a folder to view its contents:
