This software application is developed by Runbox and is protected by copyright law and international treaties. We are considering to open source RMM, but as of now it is proprietary.

Runbox Mail Manager utilizes the following OSI Certified Open Source Software:

• Operating system: Debian Linux and Ubuntu Server Edition.
• Database server: MySQL by MySQL AB.
• Mail transfer agent: Exim by the University of Cambridge.
  • Anti-spam filtering: SpamAssassin with Razor and Dspam.
  • Anti-virus filtering: Clam AntiVirus with OpenAntiVirus and Exiscan.
• Mail proxy: Perdition by Simon Horman.
• IMAP server: Courier-IMAP by Double Precision.
• Web server: Apache HTTP Server with mod_perl by The Apache Software Foundation.
• Web proxy: Squid Web Proxy Cache.
• Template system: Template Toolkit.

The Runbox Mail Manager web application is written in Perl, and utilizes:

• Webmail spell checker: WBOSS by Joshua Cantara.
• HTML editor: HTMLArea by dynarch.com and TinyMCE.
• ...and a number of CPAN modules, naturally.

Runbox System Architecture

Runbox Mail Manager is running on quality server hardware mainly from Dell, EMC, and IBM. The system architecture is distributed and redundant on multiple levels to ensure data and application reliability with high scalability. Runbox continuously expands the server park to increase the capacity along with the growth in email traffic and data processing requirements.
